I’ve taken another YA’s advice and I’m going to have either a family portrait set up or just the baby (husband hates having photo taken!). My problem is my husband’s three spoiled rotten sisters who expect gifts. This year, it aint happening! I have a baby now and Christmas is about our family, not someone else’s.
The kids ages are 8, 10 and 16. The 16 year old doesn’t appreciate anything, no matter what it is. Last year we gave cheap costume jewelery, and she turned up her nose because she gave the same brand jewelery to her sisters and she spent more than we did. The year before that, we gave her a watch that she called "cheap junk" and never wore. How can I incorporate the framed family pictures into this? My husband’s mom lives with his three sisters, no one else. I’ll give her one picture, but I don’t know what to do for the kids. The 8 and 10 year old love their neice, so I was thinking to have a picture framed that I got of them holding her, but again, there’s two of them, they share a room and would think something strange of two of the same pictures.
Any suggestions for keeping my budget balanced this Christmas while attempting to please someone else’s spoiled kids?
Last year
Last year our daughter didn’t have a Christmas. She was a month old at the time, but it’s awful that she didn’t participate in the gift receiving. Any parent knows how horrible you feel if you’re unable to buy things for your own children because your resources are exhausted on someone else’s family. We did Christmas on last year. No way am I spending per person. More like per family!!!
