What kind of shoes are appropriate for a 50s' party?

I got invited to a 50s party and it’s two weeks away. I need to know if flats are appropriate to wear to a 50s party because there’s no way I’m going to waste money for a pair of saddle shoes that I’m only going to wear once.

Would something like this work? I think they’re cute enough to wear all year round and I think women did wear flats like these in the 50s. I’m going to wear them with a pair of pedal pushers and a button up blouse.

I don’t want to wear saddle shoes. I don’t want to invest in a pair of shoes that I’m only going to wear once.

For my 16th b-day party…??

Okay..I’ll be sixteen in a couple of months and want to throw a party of some sort for my friends. Here’s some basic info:
-I live in a small town (no bowling, movies, etc.) and live back in the woods on a hill
-My friends range from 14 (girl) – 20 (guy)
-My b-day is on a thursday and is the last weekend b4 we go back to school, but my bro and the 20 year old guy have spring break (i don’t know when yet) so I wanna have it so they can come
- I can’t spend a bunch of money so I need something that’s fun and cheap
- I probly won’t have my license yet becuz I get that on my actual b-day
-There will probably be about 15-20 of us (my family will come)

So that’s the basic stuff…I can go to wal-mart or dollar stores for supplies and there’s a savealot and e.w. james and a couple other stores for groceries…I know it’s kinda askin for alot but I really don’t want my parents to have to pay alot for my birthday party. Thanks! :D
okay..the 20-year old guy i’ve gone to school with since in kindergarten and he’s my bro’s best friend and he’s my friend too and we are both CHRISTIANS!! why does everyone assume he’s just in it for sex?!? he’s really sweet and a gentleman and i’ve been friends with him pretty much since i was born and he’s a family friend too. and the question is what should I do for my birthday give all the conditions?? I have no clue what to do and I’m sorry I didn’t right the question out earlier.

Ok, you’re probably thinking I’m pretty weird… but that’s not the point.

I want to put together a costume that is pretty hilarious so I chose Hannah Montana. I’m a 22 yr old guy looking for clothes that she would wear in a concert (preferrably shiny) or maybe even an adult costume (though I couldnt find one).

Thanks for the hold. Looking for boots, shirt/jacket, pants. I would prefer all the clothes to be sort of cheap, I really dont want to spend a ton of money

I need some help with bridal party gifts!!

I am aware it is traditional to get the bridesmaids and groomsman a gift. I bought the girls’ jewelry (but I got it at a very cheap price and they are aware of my deal…) so is it tacky and cheap to just give them that. I didn’t go with very expensive jewelry for myself or them because it will only be worn that day, and that’s it. I was going to make the guys a beer mug w/something manly etched into it. Now it’s coming down to it, and we are getting backed out on by several of our family who was supposedly going to kick in some $ to pay. We can’t be mad, if they can’t afford it now (although we have only been planning for 2 months and you’d think they would have known if they could help out or not. whatever) so now I’m getting married in 5 days…and I’m going even more into debt to pay for the wedding expenses. I couldn’t find the etching supplies to make the guys’ mugs and now I’m not sure I’ll find the time or money. What do I do?! How can I get them something for fairly cheap without it seeming cheap and last minute? And should I get the girls something else so the gifts are all of equal value?! Any ideas for either??? HELP?! (thanks…)
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the fact that my fiance and I have DONE EVERYTHING for this wedding ourselves…decorations, set up, even planning so I’m rather dissappointed with some of the people in the wedding party and I am also angry we had to pay for one of the guy’s tuxes…Maybe I’m becoming bridezilla, who knows?!

Where is the best place to buy Harry Potter costumes?

My friends and I are performing a fan-made Harry Potter play at our school, and we need to find somewhere really cheap (we have a lot of characters) to buy robes, sweaters, turbin, and i think we could find the rest (pants, shoes, capes, "wands")… um… basically, we want it to look fairly realistic, but we have a VERY low budget… as in a high school student’s budget, with possibly a few donations… we’re going to be aged 11-18, so adult-ish sizes…
oh, and a place that sells fake beards, the characters disguise themselves.

and the money we get is going to the nearby humaine society, so we can’t use that money.

Which costume would you choose to wear at department store job?

I just got a retail job this week and surprisingly their all planning to dress up if you;re schedule to work Halloween. I get my schedule tomorrow and i’m not doubting that i will be working on that day. I want to choose something cute, comfortable (not too sexy or revealing), and fun. I’m 23, 5’7"-5’8" and 150lbs (average/curvy). Althought my supervisor seems laid back about the whole dress up thing, i know they don’t want anything too racy. So i’m afraid to get anything with the slightest cleave or above the knee..But i hate to waste my money on something i really don’t care for especially if i’m off that day or off for the night. If i’m off at night i want to go out with my boyfriend. I want to spend 20-39 (cheap) but i don’t want to look cheap to fitted too tight.

Which one would you choose? And why? I have fishnets, black low pumps, and black nail polish.

okk so im have my birthday party in Febuary. and i wanted the theme to be winter wonderland. i also wanted to have my party at the ski lodge on base. yooh see i live in japan. && its freezing cold in febuary. so what can i do at my party.? i want to invite aobut 20-30 boys and girls. im turing 14 by the way so no kid like stuff. i wanted to dress code to be nice. like ppl cany wear shorts and jeans. so what can i do.? where can i bu birthday supplies at online.? i can spend alot of money.

Is it rude to request your guests bring all the food to a party you are hosting?

My husband’s best-friend’s wife does this every time they host a party. They ask that the guests bring a majority of the food or chip in money for it and they also ask for the guests to bring their own beer or beverages. I told my husband I am sick of going over to their home since they are so cheap. They live about an hour from us too. When you host a party shouldn’t you be supplying the food or something?
